A Family Christmas Portrait
Scary enough for you Rob? Ha. No...its not the Adams Family. My mom and dad, and my brother and I about oh, thirty years ago. At Christmas too, so the pic is seasonally relevant. I am on my was down for a nap. We had the company Christmas party last night and everything went real well, except that we were late, the last ones to arrive, no not true, the next to the last ones to arrive. Doug and Cynthia came in a bout five minutes after us. So no one was there to greet our guests. Yikes! Did I ever feel like a heal. Our tardiness did not keep anyone from enjoying the appetizers or getting a bar drink or two. I was glad to see every one relaxed and having a good time. I wonder if they would have even noticed if we did not make it? Maybe when the waitress brought the bill?

Sleep coming quickly.

I enjoy looking at old photos... did I ever share this link with you?

Shorpy, the 100 Year Old Photo Blog

You can get lost for hours, looking at the photos, reading the background information. Some of the photos of coal mines, many right around here, and the conditions were mind-boggling. Check this:

But on a happier note... music... anyone listening to anything new and exciting? I've been listening to Sufjan Stevens, mostly his Seven Swans and Songs for Christmas.

I'm off to Harrisburg for a few days and then back up to Meadville, which is slowly imploding... or so it feels. Part of playing boss has meant laying someone off. And the new guy hired to replace me and run the place... not my interview or decision... worries me. Maybe he's just nervous. This new role has forced me to grow in so many ways... it's crazy.

Anyway. I've been going to Christmas parties, which is... different. I'm on some committees, which is... teaching me patience. I'm presenting to the PA State Foster Parent Association Board of Directors in January, which is... terrifying. I'm setting up a small conference in Pittsburgh, also in January, and am taking care of the important part, now: picking a caterer. I'm heavily leaning towards Einstein Brothers Bagels.

Need to do some busy work, then watch more of my X-Files, Season 2, Disc 1 fare. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this show!

Oh Robert! What can I say! Sufjan Stevens... Well... His version of Amazing Grace and O Holy Night... as Steve Murphy would say... very interesting...

the Carnival Ride from Hell was heart breaking. Thanks for the downer. Sufjan did make up for it though... definitely got a good laugh...

At weddings the Bride and Groom host the party and they are always the last to arrive at the reception, so don't feel bad Sandy about the party...

I was at my parent's yesterday and we decorated their Christmas tree with my brother and his wife. My mom still had ornaments that my brother and I made when we were little. They went on the back of the tree. Then we had a great dinner and watched the Steelers get creamed.

I started my private Excel tutoring classes on Saturday. I am taking them from my proff that I took my computer class from a month or two ago. We meet in Delmont at the Delmont Public Library because she comes from Squirrel Hill. (Very small library.) I am on my way to learning a thing or two about computers...

Well, today is crazy report writing day... my goal is to be in bed before 1 am. (Last week I was up until 3 am.)

Have a great day all. Love the picture Sandy. I too like looking at old photos. Thanks for that link Rob.
