Mia's Gone to School

All went more than well. She loaded OK, after twenty or so plus minutes. Ned was a big help. He actually led her into the trailer. We just took it real slow and let her move forward as she felt comfortable. A large handful of horse cookies and a bucket of feed helped lure her up the ramp, but once she decided she was going on, on she went. Now, once she was on and closed into the on board mini-stall she was not happy; tore the hay bag down and nearly pawed a hole in the floor. Once we got moving she settled right in and only made a fuss when we stopped to pee and coffee up. Unloading was a breeze and she settled right into her boarding school stall. Made friends with her neighbors and was immediately spoiled by the gang of twelve year old girls hanging out at the stable. I think she will have a grand time. I am beat. Nite all. Nite Mia. Be a good girl.

How long will Mia be in "boarding school"? Is that pretty typical for horses? What, exactly, will she be learning?

I survived last week, and have another two crazy weeks, ahead: this week is 3 days in Harrisburg and 2 or 3 days in Meadville. Next week it's 2 days in Pittsburgh, and 2 days in Meadville, and then back for Friday classes.

The good thing is that by the afternoon of the 24th, when the team of folks from the state are through fine-tooth-combing the records at the site I've been working at, we'll either be off the provisional license we were given or I'll be asked to commit ritual seppuku.

I got to spend two of my last three days in Harrisburg in various committees crafting policies for the company. Interesting and intense stuff, as we talk about the nuances of various words, and strive to come up with things that are clear and with little "wiggle room." Not as easy as you'd think!

Have a great week, everyone!

So, Roberto, exactly what is ritual seppuku? For those of us (well, me) that aren't familiar with any sort of ritualistic ... um, rituals?

And, Sandy, Are you up to riding yet? I have 2 cold, snowy days left to ride before I head to Children's. What do you think?
And, I keep forgetting to ask you this ... do you think I should just return that turnout sheet I bought Joe? If he slides out of them anyway, isn't it more dangerous to him, than helpful to me? What do you think???? Inquiring minds and all... you know.
:) Love, J

Seppuku is the formal term for "Hari Kari," the Japanese suicide procedure that involves disemboweling oneself. Usually done by those who have brought shame to themselves and the company or whoever they represent as the ultimate, "Hey, I'm like really sorry!" gesture.

Man, I know some weird stuff.

But can't keep my checkbook balanced. Or from running out of peanut butter. sigh

THAT is really funny ... the part about you knowing some really weird stuff. Congrats. You really do. I can't balance a checkbook either. In fact, my husband really prefers that I not touch the checkbook register at all ... stays balanced that way. oh well. J

I went 17 months without my checkbook balancing. I was going to close my checking account and cry uncle. I decided to try and figure it out and after many, many hours, I am proud to say my checkbook finally balances. I couldn't figure it out last month and after 4 hours of going through every transaction twice, I just thought I would call it quits and wait for the next statement. I had called the bank and they weren't much help either. The next statement came and it balanced! Yeah.

Anyway, I don't have as adventurous of travels as Rob does... I am just off to Greensburg tomorrow for a training and then dinner with my dad and step-mom.

My mom is spending the weekend at my house and then coming to church with me on Sunday. I am so excited. We are going to play with our cameras and hang out... (Hey Rob, I will have to remember not to touch the gold thing...inside joke)

Anyway - take care all... keeping John in my prayers.

Hey, glad the baby girl (horsie) got to her destination safely. Is she going to a Paso specialist, I presume? Bunnie knocked her head, rearing in the stall, we're doctoring a nasty wound now. Probably needed a few stitches, which she didn't get. We'll see how it goes. Not much going on here, lots of laundry. Hey J., still praying for Jon and all of you! G'Night

I'm home! For 36 hours! I don't have to be in Harrisburg any more, this month. I think. Some parts of my job are so exciting, and I'm getting overwhelmed with responsibilities, but... it's cool, and God's so good to me. Things are less sure at my current project, up north, and I'm now being advised to start documenting and outlining and printing e-mails and my paper-trail to cover my butt if/when things explode, next week.

Highlight of the week, so far: telling us we're under budget, then spending more than $1000 on dinner for 20, that same night. Last night, I guess. I'm so mixed up. Hey: I think I know where your money's going!
